MG Motor India today announced that its MG ZS EV completes 40000 km in 18 months since its launch. This highlights the practicality and real-world usability of electric vehicles for daily use.
The ZS EV customer has shared his ownership experience after driving the car for over 40,000 km in Delhi-NCR. He said, “I bought the ZS EV in September 2020 and it has been my primary car for daily office commutes and weekend getaways. I have driven it for over 40,000 km now and can confidently say it delivers a range of 300 km on a single charge which takes care of my daily driving needs.”
“The smooth, noiseless drive quality along with zero emissions makes it a pleasure to drive every day. I just need to plug it in at night and it’s ready to go the next morning. Moreover, the running costs are negligible as electricity is way cheaper than petrol or diesel. My average electricity bill for charging the car comes to around Rs. 800-900 per month which is less than a quarter of what I would spend on fuel otherwise,” he added.
Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India, said, “We are thrilled to see our ZS EV customers achieve new milestones every day. Completing 40,000 km in just 18 months exemplifies the reliability and robustness of EV technology for Indian conditions. With more people experiencing the pleasure and practicality of driving electric vehicles we are accelerating the adoption of green mobility in India.”
The ZS EV comes with a 44.5 kWh battery pack offering a certified range of 419 km on a single charge. It also supports fast charging capabilities and can replenish up to 80% battery in 50 minutes via a DC fast charger.
Some key features of the MG ZS EV:
- Zero tailpipe emissions, ideal for fighting air pollution in cities
- Refined driving experience with instant torque delivery and low noise
- Zero oil changes or engine maintenance required
- Advanced connectivity via smartphone app
- Five-year manufacturer warranty on the car
- Eight years warranty on the battery
Gaurav Gupta of MG Motor India believes EVs will become mainstream sooner rather than later. He said, “The ZS EV has proven that an electric car can handle the daily driving needs of most urban consumers. As EV charging infrastructure expands rapidly across India, adoption will only accelerate. MG aims to provide more affordable and advanced EVs to Indian customers in line with the government’s vision for cleaner mobility.”
The ZS EV faces competition from other electric SUVs like the Hyundai Kona and Tata Nexon EV in the Indian market. However, its combination of features, driving range, and ownership experience has made it a popular choice among electric vehicle buyers in India.
