Tata Altroz EV Launch Confirmed for 2025 with 250+ Km Range

Tata Altroz EV Launch Confirmed that the company is gearing up to launch the electric version of its popular premium hatchback, the Altroz EV in 2025. Set to compete with other electric small cars like the Tiago EV, the Altroz EV was first showcased as a concept model at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

Now, the production version of the Altroz EV is slated to hit markets in 2025 and will be loaded with smart features, long-range, fast charging, and striking looks, much like its ICE counterpart. Tata has claimed that the Altroz EV will deliver a range of 250 – 300km on a single charge, which rivals upcoming 4-door electric cars from other brands.

Speaking at the announcement, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles said, “Electric vehicles are the future and Tata Motors wants to drive this change in the market. The Altroz has proven its mettle in the ICE segment with over 1.2 lakh happy customers and now it is time to offer customers an electric alternative. The Altroz EV will be a breakthrough product that will set the benchmark for premium electric hatchbacks when it launches.”

What to Expect from the Upcoming Altroz EV

While details are limited at the moment, Tata has revealed a few key specifications of the Altroz EV that’s coming in 2025:

  • 250 – 300km range on a single full charge
  • Supports fast charging up to 80% in 90 minutes
  • 0 – 80% charging possible with home wall box in 6 hours
  • Sub 10 second 0 – 60 kmph acceleration timing
  • Top speed of 100+ kmph

In addition to the performance specs, the Altroz EV is likely to retain the stylish coupe-like design and sharp styling elements like projector headlamps and LED DRLs like the standard model. On the inside, customers can expect premium interiors, ambient lighting, a smart infotainment system with connected tech, and other segment-leading features.

Tata Motors is said to have already commenced testing prototypes of the Altroz EV which are undergoing rigorous road tests across the country. The carmaker aims to perfect the driving dynamics, range capabilities, charging time, and other parameters before the market launch.

Altroz EV Expected to be Priced Around Rs. 14 Lakhs

Given its premium positioning and the high localization levels, the Altroz EV price in India could start around Rs. 14 lakhs and go up to Rs. 16 lakhs for the top model. This would make it competitively priced against the Tiago EV and other mainstream electric hatchbacks.

Tata is investing heavily in ramping up the charging infrastructure across India through partnerships, which should give buyers added confidence. The existing Altroz petrol and diesel variants are already among the highest-selling Tata cars with sales of 8,772 units in December 2022.
