Mahindra BE.05 Electric Vehicle Spotted Ahead of October 2025 Launch

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has been spotted testing its upcoming Mahindra BE.05 Electric Vehicleelectric vehicle on public roads, indicating that the launch could be imminent. The BE.05 EV is slated to be launched in October 2025 and will be Mahindra’s first entrant in the premium electric SUV segment.

Our sources revealed that the test mules spotted were wearing heavy camouflage and had covered exteriors to conceal the final design. However, the overall silhouette and shape of the vehicle indicate that it will likely be a mid-size SUV with a coupe-like sloping rear profile.

Mahindra has not revealed any details regarding the powertrain specifications of the BE.05 yet, but we expect multiple battery pack options with a range of around 300-400 km on a single charge. The electric motor could produce around 150-200 hp power with torque figures in the 300 Nm range. DC’s fast charging capability will likely be offered for quick top-ups on the go.

“Mahindra has taken a giant leap into the electric mobility space with the BE.05 EV. This will mark our entry into the premium electric SUV segment where we aim to provide environmentally conscious buyers a stylish and technologically advanced option,” said Mr. Veluswamy R, Chief of Product Development at Mahindra, revealing some of the first official details about the BE.05 EV.

He further added, “The BE.05 has been designed and engineered ground-up to maximize range and efficiency without compromising on aesthetics or drivability. We believe this will raise the bar for electric SUVs in India and globally when it hits the roads.”

Some of the key features of the Mahindra BE.05 EV are expected to include:

  • Contemporary exterior design with LED lighting
  • Spacious and tech-laden interior with digital instrumentation
  • Large touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity
  • Advanced driver assistance systems and safety technologies
  • High ground clearance for better off-road accessibility
  • Multiple driving modes for efficient performance

According to industry experts, the BE.05 EV could be priced upwards of Rs 25 lakh ex-showroom. It will primarily compete against the likes of the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona, and Tata Nexon EV in India. Mahindra is aiming to garner close to 20-25% share in the electric SUV market with the launch of the BE.05 EV.

Mahindra is investing heavily in ramping up its electric mobility plans with multiple new product launches and capacity expansion planned over the next few years. The automaker aims to have electric variants for all its passenger vehicle models by 2027. Together with its Korean subsidiary SsangYong, Mahindra aims to have a very strong electric SUV portfolio globally in the coming years.
