Kia EV9 To Tata Harrier EV: Electric Cars Coming To India In 2024

With the debut of numerous new EV models, India’s electric vehicle (EV) market is set to grow significantly in the following year.

Numerous automakers have formally announced the debut of their electric vehicles in 2024, according to a report.

According to sources, the spike in new models is likely to open doors for leading automakers to enter India’s expanding EV sector, where electric vehicle sales now account for less than 7% of total vehicle sales.

Here is a list of new electric vehicles that will be introduced in India next year:

EV TATA HARRIER

Tata Motors has stated that the electric version of their flagship Harrier SUV, which was recently redesigned, will be available in 2024. The Harrier EV made its premiere at the Auto Expo earlier this year. The Harrier EV, which is based on the Gen 2 EV design, will support both V2L and V2V charging. So yet, little is known about this electric SUV’s range, performance, and features.

EV TATA PUNCH

Tata Motors’ forthcoming electric car, the Tata Punch EV, is set to make its premiere in India next year. Notably, when it is released, the Punch EV will be Tata’s fourth vehicle to provide an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and Electric Vehicle (EV) variations of the same model. The Punch EV’s long-range variant is projected to traverse over 300 km on a single charge, leveraging Tata’s Ziptron technology, comparable to other EVs like the Nexon. According to reports, the battery size may be similar to that of the Tigor EV or the Nexon EV.

Tata Curvv

Tata Curvv EV, Tata Motors’ third electric car, is set to be released in 2024. The rollout of the EV model is expected to coincide with the release of the ICE version of the SUV. The Curvv EV, which is based on Tata Motors’ X1 chassis, will undergo considerable changes to meet electric vehicle criteria. According to reports, the Curvv electric SUV will have a range of 400-500 km on a single charge.

SUZUKI EVX MARUTI

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest automobile manufacturer, intends to release its first electric vehicle, the eVX, in 2024. The company has confirmed that the eVX electric SUV, which was initially displayed at the Auto Expo in January 2023, will begin production next year at Suzuki Motor’s Gujarat facility in Hansalpur. On a single charge, the eVX electric SUV will have a range of approximately 550 km. It will be furnished with a lithium-ion battery pack of 60 kWh. When it is released, it will compete with vehicles such as the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona.

Kia EV9

The Korean carmaker is likely to expand its EV lineup in India with the release of its three-row electric SUV EV9. The Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) underpins the EV9, which is more than five meters long. It boasts a range of up to 541 km on a single charge and is available in two models. The EV9 is propelled from 0 to 100 mph in 9.4 seconds by a 150 kW electric motor. The RWD version of the EV will have a more powerful 160 kW electric motor.

The MAHINDRA XUV.E8

In addition, Mahindra and Mahindra will expand their electric vehicle lineup in India by introducing an electric SUV based on the XUV700. This will be Mahindra’s second electric vehicle, following the XUV400. At an event in the United Kingdom in August 2022, Mahindra unveiled five forthcoming electric SUVs. The XUV.e8 is scheduled to be produced under the Born Electric brand, with a dual electric powertrain and all-wheel drive technology. The XUV.e8 EV is likely to come with at least a 60-kWh battery pack, as well as features like level 2 ADAS and 5G connection from Mahindra.
