Renault has taken the wraps off the 2024 Kwid EV

Renault has taken the wraps off the 2024 Kwid EV, the electric version of its popular entry-level hatchback. The new Kwid EV gets comprehensive styling and interior updates while retaining the tall-boy stance and exterior dimensions of the ICE Kwid. Renault will launch the Kwid EV in India later this year and it is expected to be priced competitively to appeal to first-time EV buyers.

Styling:

The 2024 Kwid EV gets a new front fascia that is inspired by Renault’s latest design language. The split headlamp cluster is new while the front grille is redesigned. The front and rear bumpers are also new. At the rear, the tail lamps are connected by a reflective strip that runs across the tailgate. The EV also gets new diamond-cut alloy wheels and electric blue accents on the grille, wheel caps, and rear bumper inserts.

Interiors:

Renault has also updated the interior of the Kwid EV with a new dashboard and upholstery. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is carried over but now gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The instrument cluster is revised with a color MID that relays charge status and driving range information. Other features like a rear parking camera, push-button start-stop, keyless entry, steering-mounted controls, and a rear center armrest are also offered. The safety kit consists of 4 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminders, and a speed alert system.

Electric Powertrain:

The Kwid EV is powered by a 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack that feeds a 45hp electric motor. Renault claims a range of 250 km on a single charge for the hatchback. The battery supports fast charging and can be juiced up from 0 to 80% in under 50 minutes using a DC fast charger.

Renault Kwid EV Expected Price:

The current petrol-powered Renault Kwid retails from Rs 4.64 lakh, ex-showroom, so we expect the electric version to be priced between Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. This will make it one of the most affordable EVs in the Indian market. The Kwid EV is aimed at first-time buyers looking to make the switch to electric mobility. With its SUV-inspired design, practical interiors, and long driving range, the Kwid EV promises to be an ideal urban runabout for the Indian market.
