Forget Other SUVs, the Tata Nexon Facelift Redefines the Segment

The Tata Nexon makeover will be unveiled on September 14, offering an intriguing mix of elegance and innovation. Interior ergonomics, on the other hand, might be improved to make it more practical for Indian drivers.

Tata Nexon Exterior and design:

The Nexon facelift features a dynamic front design inspired by Tata’s Curvv EV concept, emphasised by tapered bi-directional LED headlights and a more defined, muscular bonnet line. The front end has larger air dams and split headlamps that seamlessly integrate into a sleeker grille, while the back end has a full-width light bar that captures the famous ‘Y’ pattern in a simple manner.

Notably, the rear reflectors have gained prominence, accentuating the car’s aggressive, square look. The windscreen wiper is concealed by a subtly fitted rear spoiler, further improving the overall outward look.

Tata Nexon Interior Design and Technology:

With a complete overhaul on the inside, the Nexon takes a huge step ahead. The cabin features an eye-catching 10.25-inch touchscreen panel with increased resolution and an easy-to-use interface. The top-tier model supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as sharp, high-resolution navigation on a configurable digital instrument cluster.

A touch of luxury is provided with ventilated leatherette seats for both the driver and front passenger. The unusual two-spoke steering wheel design is reminiscent of historic Tata automobiles, particularly the Sierra.

Tata Nexon Technology and security:

The Nexon makeover packs a technological punch. It includes an in-built SIM card for SOS emergency calls, giving you piece of mind in the event of an unexpected incident. The dual-clutch automatic transmission’s soft-touch gear shifter and a temperature control panel with illuminated logos on a sleek piano black surface contribute to a modern and convenient driving experience.

The 360-degree camera is a remarkable safety feature, providing a high-definition, all-around image that is supplemented with a 3D perspective. The Nexon comes standard with six airbags and seat belt reminders for all passengers, increasing driving safety.

Variants and Powertrains:

The Nexon facelift retains its 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine options under the hood. It also adds a 7-speed DCT to the petrol engine, which provides smooth and quick performance. However, the noise level of the diesel engine may be an issue for some.

Colours and variations:

Customers will be wowed by the Nexon facelift’s four key variants: Smart, Pure, Creative, and Fearless. Buyers can select from six different body colours, including Pristine White, Daytona Grey, and Flame Red, which are available across all models.

‘Fearless Purple,’ a distinctive colour, is limited to the Fearless version, however, opinions on its attractiveness may differ. The purple variety, on the other hand, was too much for us.

Conclusion:

The Tata Nexon facelift is poised to make a statement in the compact SUV segment, offering a blend of futuristic design, advanced technology, and enhanced safety features. While there are some minor ergonomic and material quality issues, the Nexon retains its reputation for a comfortable ride and well-balanced suspension.

The addition of a 360-degree camera, an in-built SIM, and an enhanced infotainment system boosts its appeal. The Nexon, whether in petrol or diesel form, delivers an exhilarating driving experience.

In terms of safety, it is the safest compact SUV in its class, with six airbags, an electronic stability programme (ESP), ISOFIX anchorages, and three-point seatbelts standard across all models. While fit and finish may be improved, the Nexon is a tempting alternative for anyone looking for a compact SUV that combines design, innovation, and safety.
