Tesla will go for a $3.6 billion expansion of its Nevada battery "Gigafactory”, these batteries will be supplied to over one million EVs annually.

The investment of $3.6 billion will provide 3,000 new jobs in two new factories at the Sparks, Nevada in the Western region of the United States.

One factory will be fully dedicated for producing batteries to be used un the Tesla Semi, it will be the first high-volume battery manufacturing unit.

The other manufacturing unit will produce 4680-format battery cells, sufficient for the supply of 1.5 million light-duty Electric Vehicles every year.

The upcoming project may be the most efficient battery plant project ever, in terms of investment of $3.6 billion compared to the factory output.

Tesla’s Nevada Gigafactory has produced 7.3 billion battery cells which is equivalent to 37 GWh annually.

It has also produced 1.5 million battery packs, 3.6 million drive units, as well as 1 million energy-storage modules for a total capacity of 14 GWh.
