28-year-old Digambar Jain walked into an Ather Energy dealership with bags full of Rs 10 coins amounting to Rs 1.6 lakhs to buy the popular electric two-wheeler. He took this unique step to raise awareness about the importance of accumulating savings in coins.
“I have been saving coins for the last 2 years. I would empty my pocket full of change every day in a piggy bank. Finally, I was able to collect 1.6 lakh rupees in Rs 10 coins,” said Mr Jain.
He added, “I wanted to buy a vehicle, but I also wanted to spread awareness on how even coins can amount to a big saving if diligently collected and accumulated over time. So I bought this electric scooter completely with my coin savings.”
